About this site.
We don’t need your money. Electrealdemocrats.com is NOT a PAC. We don’t want donations. We don’t want to talk to the press. We don’t want to work with the DNC. We don’t take orders from “Democratic leadership” that has spent over six years failing to lead.
We do support Dr. Howard Deans 50-State strategy. We do support Democrats who have new ideas and the backbone to stand up against a GOP that has refused to let over half of America be represented for over six years.
We believe in investing in the future; in energy independence as the future of America’s security. We believe in progressive taxation. We believe that an $80 tooth repair shouldn't lead to a dead 12 year old because the parent couldn't afford it. We believe in balanced budgets. We believe in quality and equal public education, not teaching to a test. We believe in voting with paper trails, and that every vote counts. We believe that the rich getting richer and a shrinking middle class is not good for America or her people. We believe in supporting a growing middle class by wise investment in the future, not payback to corporate campaign contributors and no-bid contracts for the good old boys. We believe in progressive values and shun triangulation. We believe that the Democratic Party can go back to its roots and again be the >party of the middle class and those that want to be in it. We believe that you can make the difference. We hope that you will join us and save that $5.00 per week to make a difference and take America back by supporting progressive Democrats.
About the guy who started this. JM Ivler ran in the Democratic primary for Congress in 1994 (CA-46, B-1 Bob Dornan’s seat at the time). He is a former CTO, author (a technical book on web programming and some articles in Web Developer) an inventor (two patents) and now is semi-retired and operates a consulting business, an education business and a few other odds and ends. His primary occupation now is being a dad, but primary play is politics, and in late/2004-early/2005 he started timetogojoe.com (yeah, the site is kind of dead and outdated now...). He lives in a district which the GOP will win forever because the local Democratic party can’t get their act together enough to take the area between the two Sanchez sisters and he wants to at least have some effect on the direction of this country since his vote for Congress never counts. Every once in a while he writes something that even Buzzflash is willing to print. He reads AmericaBlog (except for Chris the smoke-nazi in Paris), Crooks and Liars (John and his team are great!), TPM (Josh’s original site, not all the add-ons) and MyLeftNutmeg (a great example of Connecticut Democratic progressives taking their country back, where he is very honored to be allowed to FP). He is saving $5.00 a week to give to progressive Democrats across the country to unseat DLC and Blue Dogs Dems and he hopes you will join with him in making a difference.
